Romance in Ventura County Coast

Romance in Ventura County Coast Food & Drink
Day 1

Whether you want to sip delicious, local wine over a crackling fire or rough it on the majestic Channel Islands, Ventura County Coast has something exhilarating, fresh and fun to offer every couple. Better yet, VCC is only an hour north of Los Angeles so you can decompress without the stress of traveling.Considered part of the Central Coast, the four cities that make up VCC (Ventura, Camarillo, Oxnard, Port Hueneme) give a wide array of inspiring options to choose from.  For couples who love nature and want to explore, the incredible Channel Islands are waiting. Just 11 miles offshore, yet worlds apart, the Channel Islands National Park is an all-natural playground for those who love to hike, camp, snorkel, kayak, nature walk or just breathe in the fresh ocean air. Ever wanted to see inside of a sea cave? Check out the Painted Cave and explore the entirely different world that lies just a few miles off the coast. If you want jaw-dropping photos, take an excursion to one or all five of the islands through Island Packers out of either its Ventura Harbor or Channel Islands Harbor (Oxnard) locations, or plan a whale watching trip (gray whales in winter, blue whales and humpbacks in summer). Just a warning, your friends may become envious when they see your island getaway photos.  If coastal adventures are more your speed, visit the Ventura Harbor Village and stop in the many gift shops along the way. Catch one of our breathtaking sunsets and rent out paddle boats for your own leisurely tour around the harbor. When you begin to feel a bit peckish, it's time for a wonderful culinary experience. Ventura offers ocean-view dining at Aloha Steakhouse and enticing California cuisine in a spanish bungalow at Cafe Nouveau. Coastal Grill (Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel) in Oxnard boasts fresh fish and a beautiful ocean view. If you are feeling a more classic Italian experience, check out Bistro 13. Authentic Italian food with casual dining makes this restaurant a favorite. Consider trying one of these romantic favorites inland: Camarillo's Safire Bistro, featuring classic American fare with an infusion of Asian, Spanish and Mediterranean flavors, Verona Trattoria, with its fresh twist on regional Italian cuisine or Sheila's Place (don't forget to try their wonderful wine bar with over 500 wine varieties). Not ready to call it a night after a superb meal? The Majestic Ventura Theater is a hot venue for live music fans. It features well-known artists ranging from Yellowcard to Alice in Chains, as well as local bands. Musical tastes at this 1920's mission style theater range from alternative rock, reggae, classic rock, rap, metal, blues, country, jazz, Latin and more. Check ahead to see who's headlining. If you prefer a night of laughs instead, you can get plenty at the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club. Unique craft breweries are a great way to end the night in Ventura County Coast. From Topa Topa Brewing Company in Ventura to Institution Ale Company in Camarillo, Ventura County Coast has everything from pilsners, ales, to bitters. Can’t decide? Buy a flight and get ready for takeoff! If wine is more your style, take a Wine Tasting Tour, sit back and let us drive. Enjoy Ventura County’s premier wine region with professionally arranged itineraries or customize your own. Inconspicuous and relaxing, the Wine Tasting Room located inside the River Ridge Golf Club has a unique and refined selection of wines ranging from Chardonnay to Cabernet. Sip and soak in the view as the sun sets on the beautiful rolling hills of the golf course. Favorite wine tour stops are Heritage Square, Rancho Ventavo Cellars, Herzog Wine Cellars and Magnavino Cellars in Oxnard and Bella Victorian Vineyard in Camarillo. Wine, chocolate and cheese--what a great way to top off a perfect weekend.
